Shopify AI chatbot
A Shopify AI chatbot built to sell, not just answer FAQs
Tycoon is an AI sales associate for Shopify stores. It asks what a shopper needs, recommends from your real catalog with live prices and stock, and checks every figure before a reply goes out.
What is a Shopify AI chatbot?
A Shopify AI chatbot is a chat window on your storefront that uses a large language model to answer shoppers in plain language. Some only answer support questions from a fixed FAQ. Others, like Tycoon, also recommend products, add them to the real cart and make an offer, acting more like an AI sales associate.

How is Tycoon different from a typical FAQ chatbot?
A typical FAQ chatbot answers from a static list of questions and replies, so it cannot sell and can drift out of date. Tycoon reads price and stock live for every answer, asks what the shopper needs before recommending, makes one honest offer per reply and, on Growth and up, gives you a weekly Store Manager report.
This is a generic comparison. Many chat tools sit in between, and an FAQ bot can suit a store that only needs a help widget.
| Question | Typical FAQ chatbot | Tycoon |
|---|---|---|
| Where do answers come from? | A static FAQ you write and maintain | Your store, read on install; price and stock read live for every answer |
| How does it recommend? | Generic replies or a link to a collection | Asks what you need, then suggests one to three products, each with a reason |
| Does it sell? | Usually not | One honest offer per reply: the saving first, then the bonus |
| What do you learn from it? | Often no reports | A weekly Store Manager report (Growth plan and up) |
| Is a figure checked before sending? | Varies by tool | Every draft is checked whole; a figure that does not match is blocked and rewritten |
Where does the chatbot get prices and stock?
Tycoon reads price, compare-at price and stock live from your Shopify store for every answer, and stores none of them. The model is never the source of a price, stock state, delivery date or discount code. Each draft is checked against live data and the facts you approved before the shopper sees it.
This is why Tycoon does not stream replies word by word. The whole draft passes the truth checks first. If it says a jacket costs a figure your store does not show, or that a size is in stock when it is not, that draft is blocked and rewritten. Shop facts come only from the list you approved before going live.

Can an AI chatbot for Shopify help close sales?
Yes, if it is built for selling. Tycoon asks one short question built from your own catalog when the need is unclear, then suggests one to three products with a reason for each. Product cards show real images, the live price and the right variant, and Add to cart puts the item in your store's real cart.
It skips the question when the shopper already said what they need. The cart only changes when the shopper taps the button, and there is a checkout button inside the chat. When it fits, it makes at most one offer per reply: a matching add-on, a bundle or the nudge that unlocks free shipping. It makes no offer when the shopper sounds upset, skeptical or hesitant, and it never uses false urgency, fake scarcity or fake social proof.
Does it handle AI customer service on Shopify too?
Yes. Tycoon answers everyday questions around the clock: where's my order, shipping times, sizing, stock and your returns policy when asked. On the Starter plan and up, a shopper signed in to your store's customer account can check her own orders from the last 60 days. It hands off to your team when a person is needed.
It says plainly that it is an AI, the window is labelled "AI assistant", and it always offers a person from your team. You cannot turn that off. It answers each shopper in the language they write in, across 16 languages. See support automation for the full support picture.
How do you add an AI chatbot to a Shopify store?
Installing Tycoon takes three clicks from you: install and approve permissions on Shopify's screen, approve the facts it found and go live, then press Save in the theme editor. In between, it reads your catalog, policies, shipping and brand voice by itself, a step that targets about 9 minutes (a target, not a promise).
- Install the app and approve permissions on Shopify's screen. There is no separate account to create.
- Review the facts Tycoon found (shipping thresholds, return windows, delivery times, codes) and approve them.
- Press Save in the theme editor. Tycoon appears through a theme app extension, so there are no theme code edits.
What should you check before choosing a Shopify chatbot app?
Check where its answers come from, whether figures are verified before sending, whether it says it is an AI, how hand-off to a person works, what counts toward your plan limit and what happens when you reach it. Then test it on your own products.
- Live data: does it read price and stock at answer time, or from a copy that can go stale?
- Truth checks: is each reply checked before it is sent, or streamed straight to the shopper?
- Honesty: does it disclose that it is an AI and always offer a person?
- Speed: how heavy is the storefront script? Tycoon's loader is designed to stay around 10 KB and the chat loads when opened.
- Pricing: what is a conversation, and are there overage fees? See Tycoon pricing.
Frequently asked questions
Is Tycoon available on the Shopify App Store?
Not yet. Tycoon is in early access. You can book a free personal demo on your own store at the demo page.
Can the chatbot make up a price or a discount code?
It is built not to. The model is never the source of a price, stock state, delivery date or code. Every draft is checked against live store data and the facts you approved, and a draft whose figure does not match is blocked and rewritten.
Does it replace my support team?
No. It answers everyday questions and hands off to your team when a person is needed. It always offers a person and says plainly that it is an AI.
Will the chat widget slow down my store?
The storefront loader is designed to stay around 10 KB, and the chat itself loads only when a shopper opens it. More on this in chat widgets and Shopify store speed.
Is there a free plan?
Yes. The Free plan costs $0 with no time limit and includes 100 conversations a month and up to 25 products. Paid plans start at $39 a month with a 14-day free trial.
