Tycoon vs Tidio: a full chat suite or a focused AI sales associate

Tidio combines live chat, a helpdesk, automation Flows and the Lyro AI agent in one product. Tycoon is a narrower tool: an AI sales associate for Shopify stores that reads prices and stock live on every answer. If you are weighing Tidio alternatives, here is how they differ, with sources for every Tidio fact.

What is Tidio?

Tidio is a customer service platform that bundles live chat, a ticketing inbox, chatbot Flows and Lyro, its AI agent. On Shopify, its App Store listing calls it an AI chatbot and live chat app, and it brings chat, email, Instagram and WhatsApp messages into one inbox on web and mobile.

Lyro is the AI part. Tidio says Lyro builds its knowledge base by scanning your support content and answers from that content, and that it hands conversations to your team when a person is needed (Tidio Lyro page). With Shopify connected, Tidio's FAQ says Lyro checks order status, shares tracking details and suggests products from your live catalog (Tidio home page).

The Shopify App Store listing adds that Lyro can process refunds, cancellations and order edits, and can recommend products and add them to the cart on product pages (Tidio on the Shopify App Store). Tidio's strength is breadth: many channels, human agents and automation in a single product.

What is Tycoon?

Tycoon is an AI sales associate for Shopify stores, currently in early access. On install it reads your catalog, policies, shipping and brand voice, you approve the facts it found, and it then helps shoppers choose products, answers everyday questions and hands off to your team when a person is needed.

Its design centers on accuracy at the sale. Price, compare-at price and stock are read live from the store for every answer, and every draft is checked whole before it is sent, so a figure that does not match live data or approved facts is blocked and rewritten. See how it works for the full flow.

How do Tycoon and Tidio compare feature by feature?

The table lines up what each product states publicly. Tidio is a multi-channel service suite with an AI agent added; Tycoon is a single-purpose sales associate for the Shopify storefront. Where Tidio's public pages do not address a point, the cell says so rather than guessing either way.

How much does Tidio cost compared with Tycoon?

Both offer a free plan. On October 20, 2026, Tidio's pricing page listed Free at $0, Starter at $24.17 per month and Growth from $49.17 per month, with a 7-day trial. Tycoon's launch pricing starts free, with Starter at $39 per month and a 14-day trial on paid plans.

Tidio's AI is metered separately from its base plans. Its pricing page lists the Lyro AI Agent from $32.50 per month for 50 Lyro conversations, and new accounts get their first 50 Lyro conversations free. The Shopify App Store listing shows a different structure, including a Lyro AI Chatbot plan at $39 per month for up to 200 Lyro conversations.

Tycoon counts a conversation as one shopper in a 24-hour window with at least one AI-written reply, up to 10 replies. At the plan limit it keeps working in a lighter mode, with no overage fees. See Tycoon pricing; Tycoon is in early access.

When is Tidio the better fit?

Tidio is the better fit when you need one place for every customer conversation: website chat, email, Instagram and WhatsApp, handled by human agents with AI help. Teams that already staff live chat and want ticketing, chatbot Flows and an AI agent from one vendor will find that in Tidio.

  • You want a shared inbox across chat, email and social channels, not only the storefront.
  • Your team answers many chats by hand and wants AI to take part of the volume.
  • You want Lyro to take actions such as refunds, cancellations or order edits, which its listing describes.
  • You run stores on more than one platform; Tidio's FAQ mentions both Shopify and WooCommerce.

When does Tycoon fit?

Tycoon fits when the job is selling on a Shopify storefront and every figure in a reply has to be right. It suits stores whose shoppers ask which product, size or shade to choose, and owners who want a measured answer to whether the assistant adds revenue rather than a resolution rate.

  • Guided selling: one question built from your catalog, then one to three products with reasons. See AI product recommendations.
  • Price and stock read live on every answer, with a pre-send check that blocks a mismatched figure.
  • One offer per reply at most, framed saving first, and none for upset or hesitant shoppers. See upsell and cross-sell.
  • A holdout test on Growth (one 30-day lift test) and continuous holdout measurement on the Tycoon plan.

Can you use Tidio and Tycoon together?

Technically you could, but two chat bubbles on one storefront compete for the same shopper and can confuse them. A cleaner split is one assistant on the storefront and the other tool for channels it does not cover, such as email or social messages handled by your team in Tidio's inbox.

If you test both, run them in separate periods and compare with the same measure; our guide to measuring chatbot revenue with a holdout test explains a fair setup.

Frequently asked questions

Is Tycoon a Tidio alternative?

For storefront selling on Shopify, yes. For a full multi-channel helpdesk with human agents, no: Tycoon does not offer a shared inbox for email or social channels. It is an AI sales associate that hands off to your team when a person is needed.

Does Tidio's Lyro AI work with Shopify?

Yes. Tidio's site says that with Shopify connected, Lyro checks order status, shares tracking details and suggests products from your live catalog. Its Shopify App Store listing also describes refunds, cancellations, order edits and add to cart on product pages.

Which is cheaper, Tidio or Tycoon?

Both have a free plan. Tidio's paid plans started at $24.17 per month on its pricing page on October 20, 2026, with Lyro metered by AI conversations. Tycoon's paid plans start at $39 per month. Compare by the conversations you expect, not the headline price.

Does Tycoon tell shoppers it is an AI?

Yes. The chat window is labelled "AI assistant", it never pretends to be human and it always offers a person from your team. Merchants cannot turn this off. Read more in AI disclosure and human hand-off.
