For fashion & apparel stores

An AI chatbot for clothing stores that answers "will this fit me?"

In fashion, many of the questions that hold up a purchase are about fit. Tycoon is built to read your size charts and product copy, ask about size, fit and fabric in the right order, and suggest the size that is actually in stock.

What do clothing shoppers ask before they buy?

Clothing shoppers ask a lot about fit: does this run small, I'm between M and L, how long is this dress on someone my height, is the fabric stretchy, will it shrink. These questions are about one specific item, so a generic size chart link rarely settles them.

The answers usually exist already, spread across the size chart, the fit note ("relaxed fit, size down for a closer fit"), the fabric composition and the care label. A good associate pulls those together for the one item the shopper is looking at.

  • Size: usual size, between sizes, brand-to-brand differences.
  • Fit: relaxed, regular or slim; length; rise for trousers.
  • Fabric: composition, stretch, weight, care instructions as stated on the product.
  • Occasion: work, wedding guest, travel, everyday.

How does an AI chatbot help a Shopify clothing store sell?

An AI chatbot for a clothing store helps by answering the fit question for the exact item, then making the right size easy to buy. Tycoon is built to read your size charts and fit notes, ask one short question when needed, and show a product card with the suggested size already selected and its live stock.

That last part matters: a size suggestion is useless if the size is sold out. Stock is read live for every answer, per variant, so Tycoon does not suggest an out-of-stock size as available. When the shopper's size is gone, it says so and can suggest a similar item that is in stock in her size. Read more about AI product recommendations and how variants are handled.

Example conversation · invented store

This illustration uses an invented store, "North Loom", that sells shirts, trousers and outerwear. It shows one fit question being answered from the size guide, the size selected on the card, and one optional offer after the item is added. Names and details are invented; on a real store they come from your catalog.

Shopper: Will the Linen Overshirt fit me? I'm usually between M and L.

Assistant: According to the size guide, this style runs relaxed, and the fit note suggests your usual size, or one size up to layer a sweater underneath. Do you plan to wear it over other layers?

Shopper: Mostly over a T-shirt.

Assistant: Then M sounds right. I've selected M on the card, and it's in stock right now. The product page lists it as 100% linen, and the care instructions are on the card.

Shopper: (taps Add to cart)

Assistant: It's in your cart. One idea: your cart is close to the store's free-shipping threshold, so adding the Canvas Belt would save you the shipping fee. Bonus: it's the belt shown with this shirt on the product page.

Which questions does it ask on each clothing shelf?

Each shelf in a fashion store has its own deciding questions, and Tycoon asks them in the order that matters there. For tops it starts with size; for dresses it starts with the occasion. It asks one question at a time and skips any the shopper already answered in her message.

Deciding questions Tycoon asks first, by apparel shelf
ShelfAsks about, in orderWhy that order
TopsSize, fit, fabricSize is the first filter; fit and fabric explain the choice.
BottomsWaist and length, fit, riseTwo measurements decide the variant before the cut.
DressesOccasion, size, lengthThe occasion narrows the collection before size matters.
AccessoriesMaterial, color, styleUsually one size; material and color decide.

How does it handle sizing, exchanges and returns questions?

Tycoon answers sizing from your own size charts and fit notes, which it reads on install. Returns and exchange questions are answered only when the shopper asks, and only from the policy facts you approved, such as the return window. It never volunteers returns or cancellation during a sale.

Where-is-my-order and exchange-status questions are part of support automation: for a shopper signed in to your store's customer account, it can show the status of her own orders from the last 60 days when she asks (Starter and up). When a question needs a person, such as a damaged item, it hands off to your team.

What won't it do in a clothing store?

It will not guess a fit your store has not described. If a product has no size chart or fit note, Tycoon says it does not have that detail and offers a person from your team, instead of inventing "runs small". It does not invent fabric content, sustainability claims or care instructions that your product pages do not state.

It also does not use false urgency ("only two left!" when that is not the live stock), fake scarcity or fake social proof. On Growth and up, unanswered questions are logged as knowledge gaps so you can add the missing fit note; see how it learns.

What kind of upsell fits a fashion store?

In fashion, a good add-on completes the outfit or removes a cost: a belt for the trousers, a layer for the shirt, a matching set, or the item that unlocks free shipping. Tycoon makes at most one offer per reply, framed saving first and bonus second, and none when the shopper is upset, skeptical or hesitant.

  • Complete the look: a scarf in the same color family after a coat is added.
  • Set or bundle (Growth and up): a top and trousers sold together, shown when the set costs less.
  • Free-shipping nudge (Starter and up): a pair of socks when the cart is just under the approved threshold.

Can it answer shoppers in other languages?

Yes. Tycoon detects your store's main language and answers each shopper in the language they write in, across 16 languages, including right-to-left layouts for Arabic, Urdu and Hebrew. Size labels and product names stay as they appear in your catalog, so the shopper sees the same size she will receive.

All languages are on every plan; see the languages page.

Frequently asked questions

Can an AI chatbot recommend clothing sizes?

Tycoon suggests sizes from your own size charts and fit notes, for the item the shopper is looking at. It does not use body scans, and when the store has no fit information for an item it says so instead of guessing.

What happens if the suggested size is sold out?

Stock is read live per variant for every answer, so a sold-out size is not shown as available. Tycoon can say so and suggest a similar item that is in stock in that size.

Does it work with my size chart app or size chart pages?

On install it reads size charts and guides that appear on your store's pages and products. You review the facts it found before it goes live.

Will it push returns or discounts on shoppers?

No. It never volunteers returns or cancellation, and it makes at most one offer per reply. Discount codes are only mentioned if you approved them.

Can shoppers talk to a person?

Yes. Tycoon says plainly that it is an AI and always offers a person from your team.
